A paper-based test for the detection of infections and antibiotic resistance for near-patient applications.
BugSense develops a patented, paper-based diagnostic test with software-based readout to enable rapid detection of urinary tract infections and antibiotic resistance in a single step. The platform provides information on infection presence, bacterial species, bacterial load, and potential antibiotic resistance, supporting timely and personalized therapy decisions while reducing laboratory complexity and healthcare burden.
The project is being developed at the Technical University of Munich and serves as a basis for translational research and potential clinical application.
Our Product
The technology is primarily designed for clinical and near-patient applications, such as use in primary care settings and decentralized healthcare environments. Beyond clinical diagnostics, the platform offers potential for future consumer-facing applications and screening use cases, subject to further validation and regulatory approval.
