A part of our main laboratory is used for cell function analysis in undiluted blood (magnetic flow cytometry) and for imaging haematology with microfluidic systems.

Cell and tissue cultures are handled and propagated under sterile conditions in safety cabinets and incubators for the maintenance of controlled cell culture conditions. This is basis for the development of new functional tests on various types of primary cells – ranging from blood immune cells to heterogeneous, patient derived spheroids.

The yellow room facility for microfluidic chip production enables rapid prototyping and the use of biological materials, such as for surface functionalization. High-vacuum processes are performed in the clean room facility of the Central Electronics and Information Technology Lab (ZEITlab) in Garching.

Incubators provide controlled conditions for cell culture and allow direct integration into microfabrication workflows.

Prototype setups for acoustofluidic operations integrated in a fluorescence microscope with a CO₂ incubator.

Laboratory prototypes and in vitro diagnostic systems can be tested in our Bio2 lab, including the opportunity to test samples of infectious patients in clinical diagnostic studies.

The machine shop includes a soldering station, micro-CNC, and 3D printers for fabrication.

Project results, including patient data, can be safely stored and processed on our on-site servers. We administer a multi-GPU compute server and several HDD based storage backends (700+ TB capacity).
