The WARR Space Labs team from the Technical University of Munich is conducting an experiment called ADDONISS on the International Space Station (ISS) to learn more about degenerative brain diseases like Alzheimer's. Two cultures of brain cells will be tested on the ISS, with one of them being treated with a substance that causes Alzheimer's-like disturbances. In order to allow the measurement of electrical signals, we fabricated customized Microelectrode Arrays (MEAs) where the cell cultures are grown on to. Finally, the results of this experiment will be compared to a parallel study conducted on the ground.
Great job Inola, Panagiota and Heike!
