Electrocatalysis

Using electricity from renewable sources, emerging Power-To-X technologies catalyze pervasive resources into valuable feedstocks, which can substitute their production from fossil fuels. Proton-exchange membrane fuel cells reconvert stored hydrogen to electricity by anodic hydrogen oxidation and cathodic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Widespread commercialization of many electrocatalytic technologies is hindered by limited catalyst performance. New catalysts with enhanced performance can drive the sustainable energy future. In our group, we tailor catalysts by data-driven design to translate catalyst requirements into technical solutions.
