Analog Workshop 2023

1T1R RRAM Integration as Embedded Memory

Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM) is an upcoming memory technology, which has high potential as scalable, energy-efficient and non-volatile data storage option as well as in the field of analog computing and machine learning (ML). Nevertheless, the integration of this new technology in integrated electrical systems remains a key necessity in order to enable the advantages of these novel memory cells. The talk will introduce the needs and challenges of RRAM integration as embedded memory as well as for analog applications and present concepts to fulfill the tasks necessary for usage of RRAM from a system perspective. These concepts bridge the gap between research on a material and device level and the system level, where several abstractions are needed for design. The goal of these concepts is the utilization of RRAM for real-world applications.
