Active Biomaterials

There has been a tremendous effort in developing biomaterials to advance regenerative medicine in the last two decades. While most of these material systems provide the necessary biomolecular and biophysical cues for cell culture they cannot completely mimic the native tissue microenvironment. Our research focuses on engineering active biomaterials that can recreate the dynamic microenvironment synthetically in three-dimension. We use our novel biomaterial systems for tissue development and therapy.
