Climate Change Mitigation: Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Bay Area

We joined the San Francisco Bay area campaign with Harvard, UC Berkeley, Caltech, KIT and DLR, we brought 3 EM27SUN from Germany to carry out the greenhouse measurement in SF

[Translate to en:] The majority of greenhouse gas emissions originates from cities, and therefore emissions reduction in cities provides a great opportunity to fight climate change. The city of San Francisco has an ambitious goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent below 1990 levels by the year 2025. However, to be able to determine and quantify the main sources of emissions and to reduce pollutants, it is of vital importance to improve monitoring systems of carbon stocks and fluxes. A team of national and international researchers from Harvard University, Technical University of Munich, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, NASA Ames Research Center, German Aerospace Center, UC Berkeley, and Bay Area Air Quality Management District is currently measuring greenhouse gas emissions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please join us for a discussion on Thursday, October 27, organized in partnership with the German Consulate General, with a group of scientific experts from the US and Germany. The panel will discuss new scientific results, address the challenges that arise when investigating urban greenhouse gas emissions, designing novel sensing and monitoring methodologies, and implementing environmental programs to reduce pollutants that are linked to global climate change. Special attention will also be paid to the efforts of international joint research in science and technology.
