Join the TUM SensUs Student Team
Are you interested in biosensors, electronics, or microfluidics? Become part of the TUM SensUs Student Team and help develop the next generation of continuous biosensors for healthcare applications.
Each year, the international SensUs Competition presents a new biomarker challenge. Together, our multidisciplinary team designs and builds a complete sensing system—from molecular recognition to a fully functional prototype.
Available Research Areas
Students can contribute through Master's theses, project practicals, or research internships in one of three technical tracks:
Biosensor Development
- Recognition and detection strategies
- Electrode and surface functionalization
- Electrochemical characterization
- Assay validation
Electronics
- Low-noise analog front-end design
- Potentiostat and amplifier circuits
- PCB design and signal acquisition
- Embedded signal processing
System Integration
- Microfluidics and continuous sampling
- Packaging and fluid handling
- Sensor–electronics integration
- Full-system testing
What You Will Learn
Working in the SensUs team provides hands-on experience in:
- Biosensor development and electrochemical sensing
- Microfabrication techniques
- PCB design and analog electronics
- Microfluidics
- Experimental design and data analysis
- Developing and testing complete biosensor systems
Who Can Apply?
We welcome motivated students with a background in engineering, electrical engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, physics, or related disciplines. Whether your interest lies in chemistry, electronics, software, or system integration, there is a project suited to your expertise.
